Natural Cures Not Medicine: Monsanto has been found guilty of chemical poisoning

Monsanto has been found guilty of chemical poisoning

A French farmer who is now disabled and unable to continue his farming duties because of pesticide poisoning has won in court against Monsanto!

Monsanto has been found guilty of chemical poisoning! A court in Lyon ruled that Monsanto’s Lasso weedkiller formula, (containing alachlor) caused Paul Francois to develop neurological damage as persistent memory loss, headaches, and stuttering during speech.

Reports say that the 47 year old farmer sued Monsanto in 2004 after inhaling the Lasso product while cleaning his sprayer tank equipment. Soon after, Francois had symptoms that prevented him from working. The reason Monsanto is getting caught out this time is because the Lasso’s packaging did not have adequate warnings about the dangers of exposure. The French court agreed with the claims and evidence presented, declaring earlier this year that “Monsanto is responsible for Paul Francois’ suffering and must entirely compensate him.” The court is said to be looking for expert opinions on how to gauge Francois’ losses in order to determine how much Monsanto should be required to pay.

“It is a historic decision in so far as it is the first time that a (pesticide) maker is found guilty of such a poisoning,” said Francois Lafforgue, Paul Francois’ lawyer, to Reuters.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), exposure to alachlor can cause damage to the liver, kidneys, spleen, eyes, and could lead to the development of anemia or even cancer. (http://water.epa.gov/drink/contaminants/basicinformation/alachlor.cfm)

In 2007, France banned Lasso in the country in accordance with a European Union (EU) directive enacted in 2006 prohibiting the chemical from further use on crops in any member countries. Despite the evidence shows alachlor can disrupt hormonal balance, reproductive or developmental problems, cancer, and still the chemical is still being used on crops throughout the U.S. to this very day. So... Who's going to the march May 25th -?

  4. So... if a French farmer is stupid (how can anyone think that inhaling the fumes of something that kills plants is OK), how is it somehow the responsibility of the producer? What ever happened personal responsibility? What ever happened to common sense? There is nothing wrong with the product... it was the failure of the user to use common sense or to research the proper use of the product. Since when is this the MANUFACTURER'S problem?

    1. Rich,

So, would I be "stupid" if I happened to be driving past a field that was being sprayed with alachlor and inhaled the wind blown fumes? How about if I ate something that was treated with this poison but there was not a requirement to label the food indicating that I could expect negative health consequences from eating it? Would I have been personally responsible? I don't think so.

It seems criminal to me that former chemical employees who now work for our regulating agencies allow the continued use of this hazardous compound. This is true even when our major trading partners have banned it based on scientific evidence.

    2. When they don't label it,"The reason Monsanto is getting caught out this time is because the Lasso’s packaging did not have adequate warnings about the dangers of exposure."

    4. obviously you are a Monsanto share holder and don't care that the entire food source is being poisened for profit and the US government is backing this play

    5. The problem is that his "lack of common sense" with Monsanto's product caused him major health problems. Fortunately for you, you're lack of common sense in your post here only makes you look stupid.

      Delete
    6. Why are they selling somthing to go on food that causes all these health problems? im pretty sure that is the manufacurer's problem.

    7. Why is Monsanto selling a product that will come into contact with the food we eat, when it causes: "damage to the liver, kidneys, spleen, eyes, and could lead to the development of anemia or even cancer."

i am pretty sure that falls under "the manufacturers problem"

do you want to eat food that has poison in it? stop sticking up for this company, they should be tried for crimes against humanity...

    8. Rich, you are either trolling, insanely ignorant or affiliated with Monsanto by your response.

It has been the world's ignorance which has led to the rise of such corporations who care less about health risks associated with their product & more about capital gain.

Lets see if you, your Wife or your children are riddled with Cancer or another related illness in 30 years time & state then whether you will have the same response..

    9. Nothing wrong with a product that can kill you? Do you work for Monsanto?

    10. Rich, I understand your point, but you are missing the "big picture." Lasso is sprayed on crops in the US. Do you want to ingest it after reading this article?

    11. If a toxic item is not properly labeled and you consume, inhale or are exposed in any other way- the manufacturer should be held responsible. Monsanto products are linked to illnesses around the world because nothing is labeled. how is that the consumer or worker's fault?

      Delete
    12. I could see your point if he had touched it, or bathed in it. However, he inhaled it which is something people do accidentally all the time. He may have been more careful in his dealings with the pesticide if there had been a warning regarding the inhaling of the product.

    13. When a company is known around the world for poisoning its consumers on purpose and involved in all of the evils of the world. That's how its their problem. They should be shut down and their funds divided to the people they target.

      Delete
    14. Maybe since he always uses chemicals and they are always labeled then maybe he's not so stupid nor negligent if he didn't realize these were like others...then why aren't they labeled properly??? Of course it's their fault from not informing him in some manner.

      Delete
    15. sorry mr but you sound kind of stupid.. i mean c'mon.. if you bought something that you thought would benefit you and it did not have a WARNING sign, warning you of harmful chemicals as the article indicated then of course its going to be the manufactures fault.

      Delete
    16. Rich, you seem like an idiot, but I have compassion for you. I'm sure from all the above comments you've realised that your comment is irrational. Don't you see that we need to stand up against these people who are controlling us. Monsanto have governments in their pockets because it's that age old thing...money. Think of the taxes being earned off Monsanto's profits. Think of the pharmaceuticals being sold to 'treat' (but not cure) the symptoms of the diseases that Monsanto are responsible for..... and then more money for the government from pharmaceutical taxes. It goes on and on.

    21. This is the Manufacturers problem because the Manufacturer (who KNOWS-or has reason to know-the dangers of their products)DID NOT TELL THE END USER (or the public) of the dangers of using their products. This is called (in law) Gross Intentional Negligence.

Everything you idiots eat and wear and touch every second of every day has been treated with chemicals that will kill you in short order. However all these have broken down molecularly by the time they get to you and no longer pose a risk. It's the same with food.
...and don't even get me started on GMO's. Have any of you ever hear of a "bud sport"? You've all been eating GMO food your entire lives without ill effects. Grow up and deal with it.

    26. Common sense says that dangerous things have to be marked as such. This is the reason why we have warnings where ever it is needed. A cable is of no danger but put high voltage on it and have no warning sign that´s like you want someone to be killed. Same with chemicals, you let the farmers spray it on our food, then it contaminates the food and there is no warning about the contamination.... That is no way better than what the Nazis did.... HOLOCAUST

  8. Its the manufacturers responsibility to have proper labling - people dont have knowledge of the product... Thats like saying its the customers fault they got cut with cutting tool despite improper labling and accidents occuring. They were warned... Besides, they put that garbage on our food - some think because its 'safe to eat', who knows?

  10. This reminds me of the alar scare in the apple industry two decades ago. It was later proved to be hugely exaggerated and unfounded. Of course many apple orchardists were bankrupted before the whole truth came out. Yes, consuming apple juice from apples treated with alar could cause cancer. You just need to drink 5000 gallons per day.
I will reserve judgment for further studies.

    ReplyDelete
  11. This reminds me of the alar scare in the 80's. The EPA and CBS ruined the lives of apple growers all over the nation with allegations of alar on apples and in juice caused cancer in lab rats. The asshats did not disclose that in order to be afflicted with cancer, you would have to drink 5000 gallons of apple juice every day.
I shall withhold my protest for the whole truth. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The "scientists" have been wrong many times before. The same with lawyers and judges. I am certainly not going to make any life choices based on the decision of some judge in France.

    1. “The ‘scientists’ have been wrong many times before.”

Uh, doesn’t that cut both ways? Monsanto presumably relies on a scientist or two to prove that their product is appropriate for use on food crops.

      Delete
    2. Ok but with their track record including agent orange which they said was safe, you trust them?? These studies are short sighted and biased so why even take the chance when farms have sustained centuries without the stuff. Maybe if the govt subsidized family farms instead of GMO corn syrup and whatever they call food these days people wouldn't be so confused and misguided, depressed, anxious and cancerous, all thanks to Monsanto and their second third fourth countless chances.

      Delete
    3. Yes, you're right they were wrong about agent, and countless other *safe* substances they did short sighted studies on and threw to the public. Still trust them? Really? Who cares if you have to drink gallons any amount of poison should be labeled, and kept the hell away from our food supply.
maybe if the govt subsidized family farms instead if sugar, corn syrup and other junk non food it would t matter but it is the principle of junk going into our food that is unnecessary and has been fine without for centuries using organic sustainable methods!
impractical, only if we continue to be dependent on the system and run around convenience!!!

    4. it to the over 39,000 troops effected by agent orange. Or the babies still being born with cleft pallets and other birth defects in Vietnam. Or check out the contaminent levels that are still off the chart all these years later. Monsanto needs to be stopped,NOW!!!

  12. People also bitch about agent orange and it's Terrible effects. Well. When you don't follow the manufactures use of the product and not delute it before using , do u blame the producer for that,, or the idiots that just dumped it at full strengh,,I blame the idiots who paid the price by dieing for thier idiocy use your head people if u don't like what they are trying to do with mass produced food then grow your own. Food a set of balls and take charge of your own life and quit blaming others for u Bering a idiot

    1. Your stupidity is appalling; Agent Orange caused horrific after-effects on thousands of Vietnam vets (including my father, RIP), yet the government claims it had NO side effects and has pocketed 99% of the money from the Dow Chemical suit and settlement. And I don't think defoliation was an "off label" use / that AO was meant to be diluted.

To put it in language even you can understand: chemicals bad for bonzo.

    2. Not everyone CAN grow food where they live. Because of the lobbying against full disclosure, truth in labeling is circumvented, and as with agent orange which was inflicted on troops without their knowledge or consent, we citizens are also being adulterated, violated. Many farmers and co-ops are being raided. Bees necessary for pollination are being annihilated. Now Monsanto is making moves to MAKE NATURAL SEEDS ILLEGAL. So Mr. Barrows, if you dont understand yet, get this: if you don't take a stand NOW, you may be the last man standing when it is too late to save the human race. You may sow Monsanto seeds as they allow, & get sick, & die a slave to a lost race. So before you blame others for not taking initiative, realize your ignorance, apply your intellect & GET WITH IT.

I cannot think of one positive reason that for toxins to be sprayed on our food but i can think of many reasons why they should not, when are you gonna realize toxins are toxic in any amount, our body cant break that shit down so it forms disease in our body over time and quicker if not used proper, proper use will just allow our bodies to take longer to react, monsanto will get what is coming to him, finally he is starting to get put in his place.
